The Design Process

The design process 1
It is not required, but it’s a good idea to make an appointment with one of our desginers, or to call ahead of time, before coming to our showroom. Bring along your architect’s plans, and/or the measurements of your space. If you have any photos or clippings of projects similar to what you’d like to see in your own design, bring those, as well.

Please complete this questionnaire (right-click to download and save as a PDF) and bring your responses with you, too.

During our first meeting, we will select finish options and cabinet door styles. We will go over the functional options of the project, as well. After this meeting, we will be able to put together a price estimate for the materials.

The Design Process 2In order to continue with the Design Phase, UKC requires a design retainer. Depending on the size of the project, this retainer will be between $500 and $1,500. (The design retainer is non-refundable, but will be applied toward your cabinet purchase.) The design phase will include final material and finish selections of cabinetry, countertops, and even plumbing and tile, if you’d like. Your designer will come to your space to measure, and will work with you to determine all of your appliance and other specifications.

Once you are satisfied with the design, and the framed space has been measured, your designer will submit the cabinet order. We require a deposit at the time of ordering, and final payment is due prior to the delivery of your materials.
